The winter transfer window is almost here. There will be many clubs who will be working on re-establish their squads. In that regard, Chelsea will also have to take some big steps.
Chelsea has spent a huge amount in the summer transfer window and being too busy when it comes to the January transfer window, no one has expected this from Chelsea. Still, the reports tell that the blues are still about to chase West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. But now, Frank Lampard is left with a much larger squad, which has failed to dislodge many of the fringe players. Buying players like Rice will make the spending spree cross the 250m.
For the first time in January, there is the possibility that they will trim the squad which could be helpful to the English International. According to the reports, probably there are four players which could be sold and here is the list of those players:
Marcos Alonso
When Ben Chilwell has arrived, the left-back position seems quite adjusted for now, and Marcos Alonso has therefore fallen below the Pecking order. Frank Lampard has had a bust-up with Italian reportedly as well following the West Brom game and seemingly he is the first one in the list of Blues are looking to cash-in. Marcos Alonso has a huge interest in Serie A with Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus all linked. Also, very previously Crystal Palace has done an inquiry about the player.
Emerson Palmieri
There is another left-back where his career is being questioned on a long term basis. The former left-back of AS Roma is yet to play so far in the season of Premier League, being banned to just League Cup appearances.
He was already like a backup and the coming of Chilwell signifies that he is not a guaranteed footballer anymore despite Marcos Alonso’s struggle. He had a quite heavy link with the exit during the summer and there is a high probability that the rumours of a potential return to Italy could surface again.
Olivier Giroud
Giroud was critical in Chelsea’s late-season run the last time around to help finish his side in a top-four spot. Following the appearance of Timo Werner, things were going in the same way. Till now, only one start and a total of 5 appearances in the competition made by him.
He is almost in the same situation as he was in the last year. With Euro waiting in the corner, approximately the player will ask to leave in January as a result. It will be an extremely little fee to sell him this winter because his contract has run out in summer.
There is no doubt that he has a ton to give but it seems clear that he has slipped down the pecking order of forward. Inter were very interested in him in the summer and there is a little bit of possibility that it could surface again in January.
Antonio Rudiger
With the arrival of Silva, the German defender lost his place in the line-up and even going by Frank Lampard’s perspective. Antonio Rudiger also seems to be behind the likes of Christenson and Zuma.
Now, the player is trying to push for a move and if the Blues want to sell him to recover the fee they paid for him then January could be the best time for doing that. Bundesliga seems quite interested on the surface although some rumours are spreading with the speed that Barcelona will take advantage of this situation after an injury to Lenglet.
