Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Christian Pulisic could call it quits with Chelsea before the winter window deadline on January 31 should the Blues sign a new winger.
The American international forward has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge despite the change in management and is widely tipped to seek a move elsewhere in order to earn regular first team football.
In his column for CaughtOffside, the transfer guru Romano has hinted that Pulisic could be on heading out the exit door at Chelsea before the January window closes as Graham Potter’s side search for a new attacking option to bolster their squad.
“At the moment, there is nothing concrete or advanced, but I’m told Christian Pulisic could leave the club in January if Chelsea bring in a new winger.
“Of course, it depends on clubs making offers and many other factors – as of now it’s a scenario and not a negotiation.”
Chelsea have been keeping close tabs on AC Milan star Rafael Leao but recent reports have suggested that the west London side could miss out on signing the exciting young winger with Milan stepping up contract talks with the player’s camp.
The Blues have appeared to prioritise bringing in a new midfield player in the January window with the club coming close to signing Benfica talent Enzo Fernandes before the deadlock on the asking price for the Argentine international.
