Emerson Injury Is A ‘Minor Scare’

According to the latest reports, Chelsea claims that Emerson’s hamstring injury against Finland is only a minor scare after concerns grew regarding the Italian defender.

Frank Lampard will be a relieved man to know that he does not have another major worry on his mind after Emerson’s injury is reported to be nothing serious. The Blues manager has not had a great start to the new campaign after managing to notch up only five out of a possible 12 points in the Premier League.

Fortunately, Chelsea does not have to worry about their first choice left-back Emerson as much as they initially feared. The 25-year-old defender limped off the pitch during the Euro 2020 qualifying game against Finland earlier this week after just eight minutes and Chelsea fans were worried that he would be out for a while.

However, Emerson’s substitution was only a precautionary one as Italy manager Roberto Mancini did not want to risk making his situation worse. Emerson felt a slight pain in his hamstring but not a tear and that is great news for Chelsea. But the left-back is still in doubt for the trip to the Molineaux Stadium this weekend to face Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Chelsea staff might not want to risk rushing back Emerson into a game of such magnitude but hopefully, he should return to playing after this weekend. Chelsea will look to fill in the void by playing Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso as Emerson will continue his recovery.
