The Blues will be gunning for a return to winning ways this time around after being dealt a first defeat of the new season over the past weekend against Manchester City.

Thiago Silva starts at the back with James injured

Skipper Cesar Azpilicueta moves to the right wing-back role for Chelsea with the injury of Reece James last time around in Premier League action.

A new entrant in the centre-back slot is the veteran Brazilian Thiago Silva who partners Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Alonso retains his spot as Chilwell remains on the bench

Despite speculation that Thomas Tuchel could be in line to hand a rare start to Ben Chilwell in the left wing-back role for the Blues, it is Marcos Alonso who holds onto his spot as the firmly established first-choice option of Tuchel.

Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz are fielded up top on the pitch to add some much-needed creativity going forward and assist the central striker Romelu Lukaku.
