Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are in the fray for the signature of Chelsea’s 21-year-old midfield talent Conor Gallagher who will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan deal this summer.
The youngster spent the 2020-21 season on loan at West Brom who failed to survive the drop zone in their return to the Premier League but Gallagher drew major praise for his showings while away from his parent club.
Reports from The Sun claim that Thomas Tuchel will give the nod for the midfield starlet to depart west London in a loan deal that will ensure Gallagher earning regular first-team football next season.
Crystal Palace are understood to be the frontrunners for the player’s signature but the Selhurst Park outfit will be challenged by Newcastle United who are equally keen on the Chelsea man in the transfer window currently in full swing.
Palace have already raided Chelsea once this summer with the Eagles bringing in the England U21 international centre-back Marc Guéhi on a five-year-long deal which is expected to set them back by £20 million including add-ons.
