Chelsea willing to lower their asking price for United target Mason Mount

According to the Express, Chelsea has reduced their initial asking price for midfielder Mason Mount, even though they have turned down Manchester United’s second bid for the player.

Erik Ten Hag has reportedly made Mount his top priority, and the club is anticipated to submit a third offer for the English international. United would be acquiring a talented homegrown player, capable of playing in multiple positions.

Chelsea’s hopes of retaining the midfielder have been completely shattered as his representative has informed the club that he will not be renewing his contract.

This latest update has given Man United an opportunity to pursue the Cobham Academy graduate before Chelsea’s pre-season tour to America.

United is expected to submit a third bid for Mount, and Chelsea is now open to negotiating a deal. Initially, the Blues had demanded £75 million to let go of their midfielder, but it is now believed that they are willing to accept a fee ranging between £60 and £65 million.

Chelsea, who finished the season in the lower half of the standings, is looking to trim their squad by offloading fringe players.

Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to begin his tenure at Chelsea on July 1 and will commence training sessions ahead of the pre-season tour.

Mount’s agent has once again informed Chelsea that the midfielder will not extend his contract, leading to a growing acceptance among fans that he will depart. It seems Mount is eager for new challenges and has reportedly agreed to personal terms with United.

Considering the Red Devils may submit a third bid, it is worth agreeing to a small compromise instead of risking losing the player on a free transfer next year.

Chelsea has done well so far in driving up United’s bids, and hopefully Mount’s departure will happen soon.
