Chelsea willing to let Thiago Silva leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are said to be open to let defender Thiago Silva leave Stamford Bridge at the end of this season since his contract will expire in the summer.

The Brazilian star, who joined the Blues as a free agent in 2020 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, swiftly contributed to the club’s success.

Under the management of Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea clinched the Champions League for the second time in the club’s history during Silva’s debut season in England, defeating Manchester City in the 2021 final.

The 39-year-old has been a consistent presence in the current season under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino, featuring in every minute of the club’s Premier League matches leading up to the recent international break.

It has now been stated that there is a high chance that the senior player will conclude his tenure at Stamford Bridge at the end of the current season.

The report suggests that despite his continued importance to the club, Chelsea’s management believes that Pochettino’s team can progress without the South American star.

The West Londoners possess a group of young defenders with the potential to become established Premier League talents, including Axel Disasi, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and English youngster Levi Colwill.

Chelsea are seeking to offload Silva ahead of the 2024-25 season mainly due to his huge wages, with the defender earning a reported £110,000 per week at Stamford Bridge after signing a new contract in February.

Silva has been quiet when discussing his future at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks. Still, it has been suggested he may leave for Brazil.

According to the Sun, the veteran ace has considered concluding his career with Fluminense, the club he left in 2008 to make his move to AC Milan in Europe.
