Chelsea vs Valencia: Chelsea player ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga 5

Didn’t have much to do in the first half, distribution of the ball was good as usual by the Spanish international. Should have done better to make himself big to block Rodrigo’s goal

Kurt Zouma 5.5

Came in for Rudiger but did nothing to give Lampard a dilemma when Rudiger returns. Not comfortable playing out from the back and gave the ball away a few times

Andreas Christensen 6.5

Looks comfortable in a back three as opposed to a back four.Tidy with his passing as always and broke up play when he needed to

Fikayo Tomori 6.5

Looks increasingly confident with every game. Made some good tackles and his header won his side the penalty which was missed by Ross Barkley

Cesar Azpilicueta 6.5

Got in good positions upfield but the final ball was lacking, switched to center-back when Zouma was replaced by Giroud and looked comfortable playing in that position

Marcos Alonso 6.5

Wasn’t troubled much defensively but lost the ball a few times and could have done better when got in some good positions to whip the ball in.

Jorginho 7

Played some good passes and switched the play well, did well defensively intercepting passes and making some good tackles in dangerous positions. Booked

Mateo Kovacic 6.5

Should have had an assist when played a beautiful long pass to Willian which he somehow managed to shoot over the goal. Work rate was good as usual and played some good passes. Subbed for Ross Barkley when Chelsea was looking for an equalizer

Mason Mount 5.5

Came off injured early in the first half after a strong tackle by former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin

Willian 6

His performance summed up his Chelsea career, gave Valencia all sorts of problems with his pace, should have at least hit the target when he did well to control Kovacic’s raking long ball. Could have scored late in the first half when his shot was well saved by Valencia goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen

Tammy Abraham 6.5

Did not continue his scoring run but led the line well, always willing to work hard to press the ball and held the ball up well bringing in other players into play.
