Burnley Vs Chelsea [2-4] : Chelsea player ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga 6

He did not have much to do in the first half. Did well to save a deflected Burnley strike in the second half and was strong when coming for crosses. Could do nothing to save Jay Rodriguez’s screamer.

Cesar Azpilicueta 6.5

Was solid and defended well particularly at the start of the first half when Burnley looked threatening.

Switched to left-back when Reece James was brought on in the second half.

Kurt Zouma  7

He would have expected to have a strong physic battle playing Burnley away and stood up to the challenge. Headed Burnley’s long balls away with relative ease and his marking was spot on , in the evening.

Fikayo Tomori 7.5

Going from strength to strength in the Chelsea shirt. Solid performance from the English defender. He had to be strong particularly against the presence of Ashley Barnes and stood up to the test.

Great last-ditch tackle to deny Jay Rodriguez when he was through on goal in the second half

Marcos Alonso 6.5

Defended well throughout the game.  He did not get in too many crossing positions but had a solid game. Substituted in the second half.

Jorginho 7

Defended well and covered both full-backs really well in the first half. Always looked to get Chelsea on the front foot with his passing.

Mateo Kovacic 7.5

He started alongside Jorginho in midfield and pressed the ball high. Ran the game from the middle of the park and always created spaces for Chelsea with his dribbling. Lovely turn in the second half to escape his marked summed up his evening.

Mason Mount 7

Highly energetic display from the 21-year-old. Always pressed the Burnley defenders and didn’t give them a moment’s rest. Linked up well with Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi when he came on in the second half. Claimed a deserved assist when he played in a great cross for Pulisic to nod home his third goal.

Willian 7.5

Is enjoying a good run of form at the moment. Was impressive again against Burnley, tracking Mcneil’s runs well. Scored a brilliant goal in the second half when skipped past Eric Pieters and slotted the ball past Nick Pope.

Christian Pulisic  8.5

His first start in the Premier League since the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United and grabbed his opportunity with both hands. Scored his first hattrick for Chelsea, first of his goals coming when he dispossessed Lowton and slotted it past Pope, had a bit of luck with the second a deflected strike and sealed his hattrick with a lovely header off the back of his head. Will feel he should have done better when he lost possession in midfield to allow Burnley to get their first goal

Tammy Abraham 6.5

Didn’t get a goal against Burnley but was a constant thorn in the Burnley side. Will get the assist for Willian’s goal when he was allowed space to run and set up Willian in a dangerous area. Brought off for Giroud in the second half
