Chelsea faces Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup and the squad list is already mentioned with 15 minutes to go for the kick-off.
Chelsea started the season well with a 3-1 victory against the Brighton in an away match. But they tasted defeat in their second match from the defending Premier League champions.
In this Carabao Cup match, the coach has introduced many new faces with debutants, and players who hardly got any opportunity to play have made their way into the starting XI.
Chelsea starting XI constitutes of some changes- Caballero in goalkeeping, debutant Thiago Silva, surprise start for Emerson and opportunity for Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson Odoi has been backed by the coach to grab his opportunities despite being tipped off to move to Bayern Munich. On the bench, there is Olivier Giroud, Werner and another debutant, Ben Chilwell who can come as a substitute later.
However, the Chelsea boss is aiming to rotate his squad in order to give some of the fringe players game opportunity and what could be better than to do so against a struggling Barnsley side.
But Lampard is also cautioned and wants to make sure his side progress to the next round where they could face either Leyton Orient or Tottenham Hotspur.
