Chelsea unable to recall Conor Gallagher or Billy Gilmour in January due to loan deal clause

Chelsea are unable to recall either of their midfield talents Conor Gallagher or Billy Gilmour in the January window due to a loan deal clause.

Both youngsters had been shipped out on season-long loan arrangements in this summer’s transfer window with the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel keen on the midfield pairing earning regular first-team action elsewhere.

Heading into the January transfer window, however, Chelsea face a crisis within the Stamford Bridge ranks with injuries on the rise as midfielders N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic remain on the recovery table.

According to reports from The Athletic, it is claimed that Tuchel will not be able to help ease his injury problems in the English capital with both of his academy talents out on loan set to stay put rather than return to their parent club.

Both Gallagher and Gilmour’s loan deals with Crystal Palace and Norwich City respectively include a break clause that they have had to have played in fewer than 50 per cent of the league outings this campaign.
