Chelsea have shifted their attention towards making a move for Sassuolo star forward Domenico Berardi after being dealt a major blow on the Federico Chiesa front this summer.
Reports from Sportitalia claim that the Blues are now looking to sign the Euros-winning Italy international Berardi who was a standout performer for Roberto Mancini’s Azzuri during the mega event.
Thomas Tuchel has been backed to bring in a forward player this summer but the Chelsea boss’ main targets, Dortmund talisman Erling Haaland and Juventus starlet Chiesa, are highly unlikely to arrive at Stamford Bridge ahead of the next season.
Berardi has two years remaining on his current deal with Sassuolo and on the back of his 17-goal campaign last season for the Serie A outfit, interest in the player has been widespread this summer from Chelsea, West Ham United and Liverpool.
Despite Italian clubs AC Milan and Lazio also in the fray for Berardi, it is understood that the player will push for a move to a different country giving Chelsea an edge in landing his much-coveted signature in the transfer window.
