Chelsea suffer blow as Mykhailo Mudryk suffers an injury against North Macedonia

According to Football London, Chelsea fans are concerned about Mykhailo Mudryk’s fitness, who was substituted late in Ukraine’s 2-0 victory over North Macedonia during a crucial Euro 2024 qualifying match.

The 22-year-old player featured for 88 minutes and contributed to his team’s lead.

This win positioned Ukraine in second place in Group C, which includes England, and importantly, they are three points ahead of North Macedonia and Italy in third place. Mudryk, who partnered with Arsenal’s left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko, showcased some impressive movements.

However, his participation was cut short when he required treatment with just 10 minutes left in the game.

Despite playing for an additional five minutes, the winger was substituted just before stoppage time, with Oleksandr Karavayev taking his place and later scoring the second goal for Ukraine.

Chelsea fans are worried about his condition following this development.

Mudryk had an opportunity to maintain his strong performance, as he had recently been receiving consistent playing time under Mauricio Pochettino.

Prior to the international break, he had been a regular in the starting lineup, a streak of games that he hadn’t experienced under previous English managers.

Pochettino’s trust in him paid off when the former Shakhtar Donetsk star scored his first goal for Chelsea in an away match against Fulham on October 2.

He capitalized on Levi Colwill’s pass to open the scoring at Craven Cottage. This goal was a relief for Mudryk, who had faced criticism for not meeting the high expectations since his arrival in January.

Concerns about the attacker’s fitness were eased as he featured in Chelsea’s lineup for their recent match against Burnley, although he started on the bench, with Raheem Sterling taking his place in the starting XI.

Mudryk did make an appearance as a substitute during the game.

With the upcoming match against Arsenal on the horizon for Mudryk and Chelsea, there is optimism that this recent issue is not a major concern and shouldn’t be a significant cause for worry in the near future.
