Chelsea still in the mix for Liverpool transfer target Romeo Lavia

Chelsea are said to be still in the mix for Liverpool transfer target Romeo Lavia despite the Blues closing in on landing Moisés Caicedo from Brighton.

Caicedo is set to make the move to Stamford Bridge from the south coast in a British transfer record deal of £115 million but the Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino is out to bolster his midfield ranks further over the summer.

According to a report from The Guardian, it is claimed that Chelsea remain hopeful of convincing Lavia to rebuff the interest from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool who were involved in a 1-1 draw against Pochettino’s men in Sunday’s Premier League opener.

The Blues are understood to have tabled a £55 million offer for the Belgian talent last Friday and Pochettino is pushing for the teenager to join Chelsea with Liverpool left desperate for a new midfield signing.

There are suggestions that the Southampton maestro will prefer a move to the Bridge over Liverpool which could mean that Klopp’s Merseysiders could be looking at another defeat on the transfer front to their London-based rivals.
