Chelsea Set Asking Price For Wantaway Striker Romelu Lukaku

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea have set £50 million asking price for Romelu Lukaku amid links to a move to Saudi Arabia.

Lukaku

The 30-year-old has been a hit since joining AS Roma last season on loan. He has registered 18 goals and four assists in over 38 appearances for the Italian outfit.

The Blues let him go since they invested in Nicolas Jackson under Todd Boehly’s reign. However, Lukaku has been phenomenal whereas Jackson has failed to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.

The club has been inconsistent in attack with Cole Palmer being their sole aggressive contributor upfront.

Saudi Arabian clubs are in talks with Chelsea as they are ready to invest in Lukaku this summer. As per reports, they are asking for £50m but are ready to accept anything close to £35m.

The Belgian ace has the qualities to flourish in any league he joins and leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be a wise decision for him.

Chelsea can use the funds to invest in another striker since they need a strong backup front. They are linked with a move for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Both players won’t come for cheap; hence, they need to sell some of their players to collect funds for the transfers. They need to avoid Financial Fair Play restrictions by balancing their spending and selling strategy.

Due to the lack of European football next season, they will be hit financially, which will be a huge blow for them. Lukaku will be ready to leave his parent club rather than limiting his playing choices.

He has been a regular for his national side due to the faith of his nation in his goal-scoring quality. The veteran has proved his quality with Inter Milan in the past and Saudi Arabian clubs are aware of the value he brings to their league.

It will be interesting to see which club succeeds in landing the Belgian and whether Chelsea will get their desired fee in the upcoming summer transfer window.
