Chelsea have reportedly revived interest in signing Lyon defender Castello Lukeba after having a bid rejected for his services last summer.
The France U21 international has made over 50 appearances for Lyon since breaking into the first-team picture two years back and he has once again emerged on the transfer radar at Stamford Bridge.
According to a report from the French news outlet L’Equipe, it is claimed that the Blues are considering to re-explore their interest at the end of the current season with Lukeba in the process of switching his agent.
Lyon are not expected to qualify for European football next season and Lukeba wants to turn out in continental action, which could set the stage for a move elsewhere with Chelsea keeping close tabs on his situation.
The Blues remain defensively fragile despite spending in excess of £600 million since the arrival of the new ownership last year and a new centre-back signing could be one of the priorities for the incoming permanent manager.
