Chelsea reportedly table a £69 million offer for centre-back Matthijs de Ligt

Chelsea have reportedly lodged a £69 million offer for centre-back Matthijs de Ligt with the Dutchman keen to call it quits at Juventus in this summer’s transfer window.

The young defender has emerged as a top target at Stamford Bridge of late with the Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel eyeing up reinforcements from the transfer market to bolster his depleted defensive roster.

According to Simon Phillips ( via football.london), it is claimed that Chelsea have stepped up their interest in the Juventus contract rebel and have put in an offer of over £60 million with a further £9 million in add-ons.

There had been speculation that Chelsea could be set to include Timo Werner in a swap deal for landing De Ligt’s signature but it is now said that the Serie A giants want to pocket a big fee in a separate deal for parting ways with the Holland international.

Tuchel will hope to get over the final line on the negotiations front with Juventus and sign the highly-rated De Ligt who also Chelsea’s arch rivals Manchester United keeping close tabs on his standoff in Turin.
