Chelsea remain interested in summer swoop for Juventus man Matthijs de Ligt

Chelsea remain interested in a summer swoop for Juventus man Matthijs de Ligt who has been a longstanding target for Thomas Tuchel.

The Chelsea boss will find himself on the hunt for defensive reinforcements to shore up the backline with both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen in line to leave the English capital at the end of the season.

Joining the duo in an exit from the Stamford Bridge fold could be the seasoned skipper Cesar Azpilicueta with the Spaniard being courted by FC Barcelona upon the expiry of his terms with Chelsea come the summer.

Reports from Calciomercato claim that Tuchel will eye up a move for De Ligt with Juventus understood to be open to entertaining offers for the Holland international and hope to pocket a cut-price £67 million fee to balance their ailing finances.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is pushing for the agreement to come to a swift conclusion with De Ligt key to Tuchel’s plans in the transfer market ahead of the start of the next season.
