Chelsea manager is not pleased with the major blow that his side received in regards to Edouard Mendy, who will likely miss over a month.
It is a big blow as the Senegalese goalkeeper changed the rhythm of Chelsea and put the things all in the correct place, since his move from Ligue 1 side, Rennes.
The 28-year-old former Ligue 1 keeper took the place of Kepa Arrizabalaga and excelled between the sticks. His presence was immediately felt as he conceded just two goals until now. The team has benefitted from it too as Lamaprd and his men are unbeaten with five clean sheets in six games.
The blow came in regards to his country, Senegal’s qualification in the African Cups of Nation. Mendy’s performance has given him the chance to feature for his country for the month of January next year and seems like Kepa will be put between the sticks again.
No wonder why Lampard is so displeased to lose his in-form keeper where so many crucial games are coming ahead.
The tournament will be organized and played in Cameroon next year. It was initially decided to hold back much earlier but couldn’t due to the current pandemic situation.
