The France international, who was a regular for his national side in the summer’s UEFA European Championships, is believed to be keen on heading out the exit door at Sevilla to sign for Thomas Tuchel’s Blues.
Interest from a number of top European clubs has been rampant in the young defensive talent with Manchester United also having registered an approach for Kounde before turning their attention to Raphael Varane.
Chelsea in need of defensive reinforcements after summer departures
Tuchel has sanctioned the sales of Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guéhi over the course of this summer transfer window and has pocked sizable fees from both young defenders leaving Stamford Bridge.
The exits have meant that Tuchel is now in line to bolster his options at the back with a swoop for Kounde who has presented himself to be a solid and imposing figure in the backline for Sevilla over the last year.
