Chelsea on the verge of confirming the signing of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia

Chelsea are said to be on the verge of confirming the signing of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia who was heavily linked with a move to rival club Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders were clear frontrunners for the Belgian midfield talent with the Anfield camp bettering the £55 million offer lodged by Chelsea who had been keeping tabs on the teenager all summer.

According to a report from Sky Sports News, however, it is claimed that Chelsea are optimistic that an agreement with Southampton will be reached soon with personal terms already signed with the player.

Liverpool were understood to have an agreement around the £60 million mark for the Saints starlet but the player has made it clear he wants to sign for the Blues who are busy bolstering their midfield ranks this summer with big money signings.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have spent a British record fee on bringing in Moises Caicedo from Brighton with the 21-year-old, like Lavia, rebuffing concrete interest from Liverpool to  join the west London giants.
