According to Football London, Chelsea have presented Bayern Munich with the opportunity to sign Wesley Fofana during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The French defender joined Chelsea just a year ago and despite facing challenges due to multiple injuries, he is expected to play a crucial role in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team.
Fofana, who recently made his debut for the French national team, is not expected to return to Chelsea until the weekend. However, there was a possibility that he could have had a different fate.
Fofana was offered to Bayern, but the German champions declined the opportunity to sign him. If Fofana had joined Bayern, he would have reunited with Thomas Tuchel, who initially brought him to Chelsea from Leicester in a deal worth up to £75 million.

The German giants are in need of defensive reinforcements, but they considered Fofana to be too expensive, as they are close to completing the signing of Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.
The futures of Trevoh Chalobah and Thiago Silva remain uncertain, creating a significant opportunity for Fofana to establish himself as an indispensable player under Pochettino
Furthermore, Cesar Azpilicueta, who is another defensive option, is expected to leave Chelsea as a potential move to Atletico Madrid is in the works, with an agreement being reached to terminate his contract with the Blues.
Chelsea and Inter Milan are currently engaged in negotiations over a potential summer transfer for Chalobah. The discussions revolve around the possibility of a loan deal with an obligation for Inter to sign him.
However, the Blues are seeking to include a buy-back clause in the deal, which is causing some complications. Despite this, talks between the two clubs are still ongoing.

With reduced competition in the defence, Chalobah has the opportunity to become the preferred choice for the right side of a central defensive partnership.
This would likely see him paired alongside either Levi Colwill or Benoit Badiashile. However, both players are facing circumstances that might hinder their immediate impact on Pochettino’s team.
