Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah speaks out on Inter Milan links

Trevoh Chalobah has discussed the chances of leaving Chelsea this summer following interest from Italian club Inter Milan.

Chalobah expressed his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge and show his value to Mauricio Pochettino. However, reports suggest that the Argentine coach considers him surplus to requirements.

Despite recently signing a long-term contract extension with Chelsea, the 23-year-old defender has attracted interest from Inter Milan.

Chalobah, who has been a valuable and versatile squad member for Chelsea in recent seasons, has emerged as a target for the Champions League finalists.

When asked about the interest from Inter, Chalobah didn’t downplay the chances of leaving England in the future. As stated by the Metro, he said:

“I don’t know what the future holds. I played in France as well, in England, and you never know. Italy is a nice country. When you play in a new destination, it’s something for a player to experience for himself. Italy is very beautiful as well.”

“Obviously, I am still a Chelsea player, but you never know. I like it here in Italy, the weather is good, the people are nice, the food is good, I am enjoying my time here [on holiday in Italy].”

Chalobah’s potential move to Serie A, particularly to Inter Milan, has been a recurring topic of discussion. There has been interest from Inter Milan and previous admiration from Roma.

It is worth noting that several notable Chelsea players have made the switch to Italy in the past, which could serve as inspiration for the 23-year-old.

The Blues have engaged in talks with the Serie A giants regarding the defender, although no significant progress has been made thus far.

There is a possibility that Chelsea may have explored the option of including Chalobah in a part-exchange deal involving players like Andre Onana and Nicolo Barella, who are of interest to the club.

Interestingly, there has been a lack of concrete interest from Premier League clubs in the Chelsea talent. However, it is still possible that some top-flight teams are monitoring the situation and waiting for the right opportunity.

During the previous season, Chalobah showcased his versatility by playing in central defence and as a right-back for Chelsea.

Considering the club’s sufficient cover in the full-back position, their focus in this transfer window may be on securing a new centre-back, provided they can generate the necessary funds.
