Chelsea are understood to be mulling over terminating Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract in the summer which could set the stage for a move elsewhere for the Gabon forward.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet SPORT, it is claimed that Chelsea are considering releasing Aubameyang come the summer with the striker falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona man was axed from Chelsea’s Champions League knockout stages squad after the Blues spent big in the January transfer window on new signings and needed to make room in the roster.
Rumours of a move away from the Bridge later this year have gained ground with Aubameyang’s old club Barca keen on his signature after the player was pictured celebrating with the Catalan outfit following their 2-1 win over Real Madrid in Sunday’s El Clasico.
Barcelona boss Xavi is also interested in moving in for the Chelsea outcast who has failed to impress in west London since making the move to the Blues last summer in a £10 million deal.
