Chelsea Monitoring Situation For Florian Thauvin

Olympique Marseille superstar Florian Thauvin has reportedly stated that he will leave the French club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League and Chelsea are on red alert.

Chelsea is currently in dire need of more attacking firepower if they want to challenge for trophies. The fact that the Blues had to go with a false nine formation in Eden Hazard and leaving out Morata of the 18 man squad tells you how much firepower they need in the final third. With the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Christian Pulisic constantly being linked with Chelsea, it seems the West London club is now keeping close tabs on a World Cup winner as he edges near an exit.

Chelsea has regularly watching Florian Thauvin as the talented winger considers Marseille exit. Thauvin previously endured quite a nightmare of a spell in England with Newcastle United where the Frenchman made only 16 appearances. However, the 25-year-old has managed to rebuild his career after returning to Ligue 1 side Marseille and Thauvin has become one of the key players for the French outfit.

Thauvin netted 33 goals in 50 appearances for Marseille and has been scintillating this term as well. He was selected in Didier Deschamps’ French squad which went on to win the World Cup in the summer. But Thauvin admitted earlier this season that he will consider leaving Marseille if they fail to qualify for the Champions League and several clubs have been alerted to the situation.

According to France Football, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid have all been keeping tabs on the forward this term. Thauvin, who is tied into a contract at Marseille until the summer of 2021, is valued at around £41m. The France international insists he will take time to consider his options following a difficult time at Newcastle in the Premier League

While speaking to L’Equipe Thauvin revealed his ambitions and stated,  “I’m hungry for titles, that’s what remains at the end of your career. As for other championships, Spain makes me dream and I like Germany a lot because it could be good for my game, but I’m not thinking about my future. I will take the time to think about it, but I’m good here.”

With Eden Hazard’s situation at Chelsea looking like he will leave for Real Madrid, the West London club need to search for a replacement for the Belgian talismanic winger.
