Chelsea Midfielder Agrees On New Contract With The Club

Latest reports have claimed that Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus Cheek has agreed on a new long term contract with the club which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2026.

The English midfielder became one of the most impressive players at the club last season following a superb season where he scored 10 goals and notched up 2 assists as well. But an Achilles injury towards the back end of the season meant that Ruben Loftus Cheek missed out on the Europa League final and it will keep him out of action for almost a year.

But Chelsea are close to appointing Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager and the former Blue is keen on keeping hold of the 23-year-old Loftus Cheek for his future plans. The former English midfielder wants to make Loftus Cheek an integral part of his squad and therefore Chelsea has tied down the player for five more seasons after his previous contract was set to expire in 2021.

Chelsea is set to endure a transfer ban, therefore, will not be able to sign any players over the next two transfer windows which mean no player will join the club for almost a year. Following the departures of Eden Hazard and Maurizio Sarri this summer, Chelsea has to keep hold of some quality players to keep the club ticking in the Champions League as well as the Premier League.

Loftus Cheek has agreed to sign a contract extension with the West Londoners which will see him earn £150,000 a week. The English star began his career through the Chelsea youth academy and has gone on to impress heavily. Loftus Cheek’s earlier contract was set to expire in 2021 and he was earning around £90,000.
