Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea have reportedly made contact with German giants Bayern Munich over a possible summer swoop for the highly-rated Robert Lewandowski who has enjoyed a superb campaign on the goalscoring front.
The 32-year-old Poland international created history recently by breaking Bayern icon Gerd Muller’s 40-goal record and is on course to become the highest ever goalscorer in German top-flight football history.
Reports from Sky Sports Germany claim that the Blues have been alerted to the possibility of bringing Lewandowski to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2021-22 season with Tuchel keen to improve upon his options up top on the pitch as the boss remains fixated on a move for Erling Haaland.
The likes of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have not been a success in the Chelsea colours just a summer into their big-money arrivals on west London despite being highly-rated names in Bundesliga football.
Lewandowski’s stature in world football has only grown in recent years and the ex-Dortmund No.9 is seen as a viable addition to the Chelsea squad that has witnessed an upsurge under Tuchel’s charge.
