Wayne Hennessey has emerged on Chelsea’s radar for this summer’s transfer window with the boss Thomas Tuchel keen on bolstering his goalkeeping options in the wake of Willy Caballero’s departure.
The veteran Argentine shot-stopper left Stamford Bridge upon the end of his contract which means that Tuchel has only two first-team names between the sticks in Edouard Mendy and Kepa.
Tuchel wants to bring in a player of experience to replace Caballero
Reports from The Express claim that with Caballero calling it quits on west London, Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a goalkeeper who has experience of playing at the highest level and would be a significant addition to the Chelsea ranks.
Caballero, in spite of being below Mendy and Kepa in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, had featured in 38 outings across his four seasons in the Chelsea colours.
Hennessey has established his credentials as a seasoned player in the Premier League
The Wales international, besides being capped nearly a hundred times for his country, has been a regular presence in English top-flight football with Wolves and more recently Crystal Palace.
Hennessey is currently without a club and Chelsea would be eyeing his transfer on a free which will come of much importance to Tuchel who has money to spend elsewhere on his priority targets.
