Chelsea’s 5 Potential Summer Transfer Targets in 2021

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel is not about to rest on his laurels and is already looking to the future and different ways to secure more silverware for the club. One of the most effective ways to ensure the success of a team is to add new players to the team. They often bring with them new energies, ideas, and hopes that rekindle the team’s fire.

It’s only been a few weeks since the champion’s league final where Chelsea won the biggest title in all of Europe by beating Manchester City 1-0. However, Tuchel has started planning a summer transfer raid to bring more players to the club in order to bolster his squad and close all weaknesses.

Football fans all over the world often bet on their favorite clubs to win matches and competitions, they do so through several betting organizations, e.g. Novibet sports betting. One of the things that raise their teams’ chances and by extension, their own chances of winning is the transfer signing of new players.

5. Erling Haaland

Chelsea’s defense under Thomas Tuchel has been phenomenal, so much so that one or two goals have been enough to win any match, however, this is not enough. This is why the goalscoring department is where the manager’s biggest headache lies.

Haaland, Borrusia Dortmund’s ace striker is Chelsea’s top choice to bolster the club’s attacking strength. Earlier, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz, all of whom are attackers were brought to the club to fulfill this goal. Although they have all played major roles in the club’s success this season, their arrival has not had the desired effect in the goalscoring department.

Haaland is renowned as one of the best goalscorers in Europe and Chelsea will do all they can to pry him away from Borussia Dortmund’s grasp.

4. Romelu Lukaku

If the Haaland deal does not work out, Chelsea has a backup plan in the form of the Belgian giant, Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku was once a Chelsea player (2011-2014) and although the relationship between Chelsea and Lukaku has been tense at times, a deal is still very likely.

Currently, Lukaku plays for Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A where he contributed largely to the club’s success at winning the Scudetto after 11 years.

3. Declan Rice

The club has wanted to add Declan Rice to its ranks since Chelsea legend Frank Lampard was in charge. Even after Lampard’s departure, the club still wants Rice. The idea or fantasy of Rice and Kante in the Chelsea midfield is a euphoric one for the fans.

Rice currently plays as a defensive midfielder and center back for London rivals, Westham United.

2. Raphael Varane

Although Chelsea’s fullback positions are already spoken for and do not require any adjustments, the club is looking to bolster its defense by adding one or two talented defenders to the team.

French national and Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane is at the top of the list, alongside Declan Rice.

1. Lionel Messi

With the legendary footballer’s future at Barcelona still uncertain, all European clubs are on high alert with their hands on their checkbooks. Chelsea will also be looking to build on Tuchel’s success and solidify the team by securing the Argentine’s signature.

Transfer seasons are exciting times for every football fan because they get to watch as their teams get the chance to make signings that will make or mar their teams’ campaign.
