Chelsea are said to be keeping tabs on Rafael Leao’s new contract talks with AC Milan with the Portuguese winger still on the Blues’ transfer radar after a move failed to materialize in the summer.
The 23-year-old has been a hit at San Siro since his move to Italy and the new season has been no different for Leao who has bagged six goal involvements in six top-flight outings for the defending Serie A champions.
According to a report from the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport ( via The Daily Mail) , it is claimed that Chelsea remain in the mix for the Milan first-teamer despite the player involved in talks over a new deal with the club.
Chelsea had been unwilling to match Leao’s astronomical £120 million release clause in the summer and were instead forced to settle for Barcelona frontman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who was brought in on deadline day.
New head coach Graham Potter, who was hired to the job earlier in the week, is expected to further bolster the Chelsea front line come January with only two forwards in Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling joining the west Londoners this summer.
