Chelsea confirm the signing of Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a £10.3 million deal

Chelsea have confirmed the deadline day signing of Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a cut-price £10.3 million deal.

The 33-year-old Aubameyang had long been on the radar of the Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel who was looking to bring in reinforcements to bolster his front line which has failed to impress early on in the new season.

A report from BBC has claimed that Chelsea, who also signed Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria on loan in the final hours of Thursday’s transfer deadline, have brought in the former Arsenal talisman Aubameyang on a two-year contract.

He only signed for Catalan giants Barcelona in January on a free transfer from Arsenal but with the club spending big this summer on new signings, Aubameyang was deemed surplus to requirements with Chelsea keen to move in for his signature.

Aubameyang’s return to the Premier League, where he spent four years starring for Arsenal in front of the goal, will be of much importance to a misfiring Chelsea side that finds itself 10th in the league standings after the opening five games.
