Palmeiras midfielder Gabriel Menino is reported to be of keen interest to Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea heading into this summer with the new boss looking to add to his current options in the centre of the park.
According to claims from the Mundo Deportivo, the Blues seem to be readying to trigger Menino’s release clause in order to avoid a close contest with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur who too are vying for the in-demand Brazillian’s signature.
The 20-year-old Menino has been a brilliant presence for Palmeiras and is tipped for a highly promising future for both club and country but with the Brazillian outfit reeling in financial troubles, offloading their prized asset could become a certainty this summer.
Reports suggest that despite a release clause worth £51 million inserted in the player’s deal, Palmeiras could be forced to part ways with the midfield prodigy for as low as £13 million, putting Chelsea in the frontrunning to land him.
As Jorginho’s long-term future remains shrouded in mystery amid Napoli links, Tuchel is convinced of bringing in a fresh face to overhaul his first-team ranks at Stamford Bridge and Gabriel Menino fits the bill for the new Chelsea boss making his first signing for the west Londoners.
