According to the Daily Mail, both Chelsea and Arsenal have entered the competition to sign Monaco defender Axel Disasi, who is also a key target for Manchester United.
However, the report suggests that United currently holds the advantage in the pursuit of the 25-year-old player, as he features prominently on Erik Ten Hag’s list of desired transfers.
Disasi is eager to make a move to the Premier League, having progressed through the ranks in France, playing for Paris FC and Reims before joining Monaco in 2020.
The French international primarily operates as a center-back but is also comfortable playing as a right-back. He is known for his physical strength, pace, and proficient passing ability.

Chelsea lack many players who can effectively play on the right side. While Wesley Fofana is one such option, he had an inconsistent debut season at Stamford Bridge, partly due to injuries. However, it is expected that Fofana will show improvement under the guidance of manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Therefore, it is understandable why the Blues are showing interest in Disasi.
However, considering that United currently have the upper hand in the pursuit, Chelsea may choose to adopt a more patient approach and observe if any complications arise in his potential transfer to Old Trafford.
The Blues anticipate several defensive departures during the summer, including Kalidou Koulibaly’s move to Saudi Arabia and Trevoh Chalobah’s potential transfer to Inter Milan.

It is uncertain whether Chelsea has alternative transfer targets in mind to strengthen their defensive department in the event that the move for Disasi falls through.
The absence of European football could also be a potential concern for the club, as it may impact their appeal to prospective signings.
