Chelsea are in for a setback with Andreas Christensen’s contract talks put on hold which may lure rival clubs into making an approach for the Danish central defender.
Reports from Goal suggest that the talks which were understood to be underway between the Chelsea camp and Christensen’s representatives have hit a roadblock that might spell out trouble for Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues boss has been pushing for the board to extend new deals to his defensive trio of Trevor Chalobah, Antonio Rudiger and Christensen but it is only Chalobah who is poised to pen a new long-term deal very soon.
Christensen had been backed to renew terms at Stamford Bridge and commit his future to the club but reports claim that talks have dried down for the past two months and the 25-year-old defender will be free to negotiate pre-contract terms with his suitors come January 1.
These turn of events will add to Thomas Tuchel’s concerns with the German already in line to lose out on his star defensive name in Rudiger who is being closely monitored by the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the build-up to the January window.
