Chelsea has put Nottingham Forest’s Djed Spence under the radar

Chelsea has already started to search for options on their full-back spot with their new interest in Nottingham’s Djed Spence as a back-up for Reece James.

Real Madrid was reportedly in for the Englishmen in order to strengthen their right flank following Chelsea’s uncertain future next season.

Including reports from team talk which say that Arsenal and Tottenham are among the rival clubs that are queuing up for the Championship player.

The 21-year-old has been having a great time in a Red shirt for Forest having made most of the league games as a starter.

With 2 goals and 4 assists the England under 21 international looks like a bright prospect and a player that will suit Chelsea’s plans for the future.

Why are Chelsea targeting a new right-back?

The West London club has players in place for every position except the right-sided flank which has looked very rusty at times.

The German coach is already looking for a replacement for captain Cezar Azpilicueta, who has shown signs of aging in a Chelsea shirt, especially this campaign.

Meanwhile, Reece James’ constant muscular problems have stunt Chelsea’s growth over the last couple of months.

Chelsea’s no. 24 has only made 22 appearances out of 35 which clearly has given a red flag to Tuchel on the players’ injury issues.

Is Djed Spence suitable in a wingback/back three role?

By the looks of it, Spece has been playing a lot of games as a right-wing-back rather than an out and outright back for Forest.

Though his immediate future in Tuchel’s starting XI will take time as the time grows and with the Blue’s high-quality coaching staff, the former Fulham player will thrive under the German’s guidance.
