Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is reportedly set to sign for Real Madrid on loan after the Spanish club’s regular number one Thibaut Courtois got injured.
Kepa’s future in the Blues shirt had been hanging in the balance all summer with the west Londoners splashing the cash on signing Brighton goalie Robert Sanchez following Edouard Mendy’s exit earlier in the transfer window.
According to a report from BBC Sport, it is claimed that Kepa is closing in on the move to the Santiago Bernabeu with Real not wasting any time in scouting the market for an emergency signing with Courtois expected to be sidelined for the upcoming season.
New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino had insisted that Sanchez’s move to the Bridge could mean that the new recruit will provide competition to Kepa for the starting berth on the team sheet between the goalposts.
Kepa, however, appears in line for a return to his homeland with the Spain international emerging as Real’s No.1 target to replace Courtois in goal despite former Manchester United man David de Gea also being linked with the 14 time European champions.
