Torino star striker Andrea Belotti is the latest entrant on Chelsea’s transfer radar heading into this summer’s window with Thomas Tuchel eager on adding to his under-fire options up top at Stamford Bridge.
Reports from the Express claim that Belotti is unlikely to extend his deal with Torino who look to suffer the drop come the end of this season and the Blues find themselves among the sides wanting to sign the Italian forward.
Lack of viable options makes Belotti an interesting candidate
Timo Werner has failed in his attempt to emulate his RB Leipzig success while in the Chelsea colours following his big-money transfer last summer and the German international could well be offloaded by Tuchel to free up some much-needed funds.
Moreover, Olivier Giroud’s advancing age and Tammy Abraham’s persistent run-in with injury troubles make the 27-year-old Belotti a viable addition to the first-team camp at Stamford Bridge.
He has been a major presence for the relegation favourites Torino this time around with 12 goals and five assists to his name in 27 top-flight outings.
Belotti seen as cut-price alternative to Erling Haaland
It is well-documented that Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland remains Tuchel’s preferred signing to make when the summer rolls around but the Norway starlet’s £130 million valuation could be a major talking point for the Blues to ponder over.
Belotti would come as a much cheaper alternative to the 21-year-old Haaland and with experience to his name the Italy international is expected to perform well at Chelsea under Tuchel’s guidance.
