Following an extensive and lengthy negotiation period with Brighton & Hove Albion spanning several months, Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Moises Caicedo via the club’s official website.
The defensive midfielder has committed to an eight-year agreement at Stamford Bridge, which includes the possibility of extending for an additional 12 months. This transfer sets a new British record, with a price tag of £115 million.
This marks Chelsea’s second instance of surpassing the British transfer record in the past six months, as they had previously spent approximately £106 million to secure the services of Enzo Fernandez in January.
Caicedo was pleased to sign for his dream club as he said:
“I am so happy to join Chelsea. I am so excited to be here at this big club, and I didn’t have to think twice when Chelsea called me. I just knew I wanted to sign for the club. It’s a dream come true to be here, and I can’t wait to get started with the team.”
With the leadership of Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s expenditures have surpassed £800 million across the last three transfer windows due to the addition of Caicedo.

Anticipation is mounting that the club could potentially surpass the £1 billion threshold in spending by the end of the current month.
Despite these substantial investments, Chelsea’s pursuit of reinforcing their squad continues. They are actively seeking a replacement goalkeeper following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan move to Real Madrid for the duration of the season.
The potential acquisition of another forward player is still under consideration, as Chelsea are currently in the process of negotiating a deal to bring in Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
Negotiations concerning personal terms with the French player are in an advanced stage, and a transfer fee of £45 million is being discussed.
Moreover, the Blues are on the verge of revealing another midfield addition after successfully persuading Romeo Lavia to choose them over Liverpool.
The young talent from Southampton is likely to commit to a long-term contract as part of a potential £60 million agreement.
If finalized, Lavia could become Chelsea’s seventh major signing for the first team during the summer transfer window.
