Chelsea FC set to focus on securing the transfer of Ben Chilwell

Chelsea FC will reportedly turn their attention towards signing Ben Chilwell after Kai Havertz’s transfer is finalized shortly. Chilwell is a top priority for Lampard’s plans this summer with the Chelsea FC boss desperate for a new left-back for his side.

And it seems as if Lampard will focus towards materializing his transfer approach for the Leicester City star as well. The Blues manager has been quite successful in his efforts on luring players in moving to Stamford Bridge. The signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech were announced in quick succession earlier this year.

Moreover, a prolonged pursuit for German international Kai Havertz looks highly certain to pay off in the coming days. Reports suggest that the 21-year old Havertz has already agreed upon personal terms with the Blues.

Chilwell has been a consistently great performer in the left-back role for the Foxes this season. The 23-year old has developed into one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League with his showings over the past couple of years.

It is rumored that the English international is himself keen on securing a move to Stamford Bridge. However, Leicester City’s £70 million valuation for the player is causing trouble with the Chelsea FC management.

Lampard has been known to make it clear that he would not be paying such a hefty fee for signing Chilwell this summer. The Chelsea FC manager, however, is hopeful of securing Chilwell’s transfer by negotiating a cheaper fee for the 23-year old defender.

The left-back options in the Chelsea FC squad have forced Lampard to look elsewhere for further reinforcements. Both Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri have failed to impress Lampard with their performances throughout the season. As a result, the defensive duo seems to be heading towards the exit door of Stamford Bridge as Lampard prepares to table a bid for Chilwell.

The 23-year old English defender is currently sidelined with a heel injury. Rumors indicate that Chilwell may not be even able to be fit in time for next season’s start. However, such news is unlikely to hold off Lampard’s pursuit for the left-back this summer.
