Chelsea FC receive huge boost in their pursuit of Ben Chilwell

Chelsea FC’s hopes of signing Ben Chilwell have been increased after recent speculation suggests that Ajax have allowed their left-back Nicolas Tagliafico to leave the Dutch side this summer. Tagliafico is reportedly Leicester City FC’s ideal replacement for Chilwell’s impending move to the Blues.

The 23-year old Chilwell is known to Lampard’s topmost priority signing ahead of next season’s start. The English international too is eager on sealing a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks. He has reportedly conveyed his desire of signing for the Blues to Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers.

The Foxes have considered Tagliafico to be the perfect fit for their squad. The Argentine left-back has been in incredible form for both club and country over the past two years. Having just turned 27, Tagliafico has a bright future ahead of him should he choose to make the move to Leicester City.

Besides Leicester City, the Blues also have been interested in signing the Argentina international. However, Tagliafico had always been Lampard’s second-choice left-back signing. The player was considered to be the Premier League’s side alternative option, should they miss out on signing Chilwell in the summer.

Lampard is no rush to slow down his spending spree in the transfer market of late. The Chelsea FC coach has made it clear that in order to compete with giants like Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC, the Blues would need to make major signings in the summer. Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already been confirmed as Chelsea FC players over the past few weeks.

Chilwell has been valued at £80 million by the Foxes. The price-tag put on the player’s head by his side has been the cause of worry for Chelsea FC’s plans of signing the left-back. The Blues are reluctant to pay such an exorbitant amount of money for the 23-year old Chilwell.

Nevertheless, if Leicester City insists on sticking to their valuation for Chilwell, Roman Abramovich will sanction the transfer. The Blues owner will spare no expense in financing Lampard’s desires of restoring the current Chelsea FC side. Abramovich is keen on seeing his team compete for the Premier League title next season.
