Chelsea are said to be eyeing up a move for Kasper Schmeichel as Kepa Arrizabalaga’s replacement after the latter joined Real Madrid on loan.
The Spanish giants have landed Kepa’s signature for the 2023-24 campaign with the Chelsea shot-stopper, who had failed to impress at Stamford Bridge in recent times, heading out the exit door for a return to his homeland.
According to a report from The Sun, it is claimed that the Blues camp are keeping close tabs on the former Leicester City goalie Kasper Schmeichel who currently piles his trade with French top flight club Nice after signing for them last summer.
Chelsea have signed a new No.1 this summer in Robert Sanchez but the new manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to provide cover between the sticks for the new season and Schmeichel is one of the names on the Argentine’s shopping list.
The west Londoners are in need of a more experienced back-up in the goalkeeping department following the departure of Edouard Mendy who left Chelsea to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli earlier in the transfer window.
