Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has snubbed a contract extension at Stamford Bridge which would come as a setback to Thomas Tuchel’s plans for the next summer.
The Blues boss has long been pushing for the Germany international centre-back to renew terms beyond the end of the 2021-22 campaign and rebuff interest in his services from elsewhere.
Chelsea’s last offer made was around €8 million to Rudiger for penning a new long-term deal but the German is keen on a major hike in his wages which has put La Liga giants Real Madrid on alert to his drawn-out contract standoff.
According to reports from Goal, it is claimed that the 28-year-old Rudiger is nearing his exit from the English capital and Real Madrid are in pole position to land his signature on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Rudiger is understood to have no intentions of putting pen to paper on an extension at the Bridge despite Thomas Tuchel’s repeated attempts since this summer to tie down his star defender to extended terms.
