Chelsea could hijack Manchester City’s approach for Brighton wing-back Marc Cucurella

Chelsea could hijack Manchester City’s approach for Brighton wing-back Marc Cucurella who is a top target for the Premier League holders this summer.

Cucurella is understood to be a priority on the transfer front for the Man City head coach Pep Guardiola but the Spanish wide player finds himself subject to serious interest from the Chelsea camp of late.

Brighton’s £50 million asking price has put City off from stepping up their efforts for the 24-year-old as Chelsea look to sign him to provide competition in the left wing-back role to Ben Chilwell, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Moreover, Chelsea’s long-serving Marcos Alonso has been eyed up by Barcelona this summer with the Catalan giants keen on moving in for the Spain international who enters the final 12 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.

The former Leicester City mainstay Ben Chilwell remains the only natural position in the left-back position should Alonso head out the exit door at Chelsea which appears imminent before the transfer window slams shut.
