Chelsea are said to be close to parting ways with star midfielder N’Golo Kanté who is on the lookout for a new club with his terms at Stamford Bridge due to expire next summer.
The Frenchman has struggled with inconsistency in form and recurring injury troubles since the turn of the year and could be deemed surplus to requirements when his contract is up for renewal at the end of the season.
According to a report from Foot Mercato, it is claimed that Kanté is mulling over his future options having grown to the idea that Chelsea would not be making an approach to extend his deal in the English capital.
The new Chelsea head coach Graham Potter is expected to add to his midfield options in the coming transfer windows with Potter likely to be given heavy financial backing by the owner Todd Boehly.
Potter will be looking at younger options in the transfer market and with Kante set to turn 32 come the end of this campaign, the former Leicester City man could be on to head out the exit door at the Bridge.
