Chelsea are keen to offload full-back but loaning him out is the only option for Lampard

Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta is having limited options to move from Chelsea after two Italian clubs, namely Fiorentina and Atalanta is not keen for him at the moment.

Previously they were keen to land Zappacosta but both the clubs have moved on to some alternative targets now. Although there is still a potential option for the 28-year-old right-back to move to Italy.

As per the reports of Sports Italia (via Inside Futbol), Italian club Genoa has expressed their desire to sign the Chelsea player this season. Reports in Italy say that the deal will be a temporary move but it isn’t confirmed still.

The 28-year-old Italian missed the majority of the previous season due to injury during his season-long loan spell. He spent an injury-driven season at Roma and that is the reason he will likely move on a loan to Genoa.

The Italian fullback moved from Torino to Stamford Bridge at €25 million in the year 2017. Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard then loaned him out in the 2019-20 season to AS Roma. In his spell at Chelsea, Zappacosta has made just nine appearances failing to show his potential.

This has made him fall down the pecking order at the London club and right now he is not in the plans of the Chelsea boss either. Moreover, the rise of Reece James along with César Azpilicueta fighting for the full-back spot has made situations more worse for him.

Being out of action last season has made no clubs keen to take him, but Genoa’s interest might be hope for him. A loan option with a buy-back clause will be the best deal for both the clubs involved.
