The Blues are in for a tough battle to land the much-coveted signature of Portuguese talent Nuno Mendes with Thomas Tuchel’s side also entering the fray to make a move for the teenage full-back ahead of the summer.
According to reports from Leicestershire Live Manchester United, Manchester City and Leicester City are amongst the Premier League giants weighing up a move for Mendes who is set to turn 19 in June but has already made a massive impact in world football whilst turning out for Sporting CP.
With his spot assured in the Portugal squad for the forthcoming UEFA Euros, Mendes has caught the attention of a number of top sides one of whom are Chelsea with Tuchel keen to bolster his squad in his first summer window in charge of the west Londoners.
Emerson is one name in the Stamford Bridge camp that is heavily tipped to seek an exit in the summer and with doubts persisting over Macros Alonso’s future, the Blues will be keeping tabs on the 18-year-old Mendes.
Tuchel, however, is understood to be focusing more on improving his attacking options at the Bridge with the likes of Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku high on the German’s wishlist ahead of the new season where Chelsea would reinforce their title-winning credentials.
