Chelsea are gearing up to make an £80 million bid for Moises Caicedo

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are gearing up to make an £80 million bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, as they continue to make progress in player sales.

The club has already reached an agreement with Manchester City for the sale of Mateo Kovacic for £30 million.

Furthermore, Arsenal are reportedly prepared to pay £65 million to secure the signing of Kai Havertz in the near future. Additionally, Chelsea stands to receive funds from the transfers of some players to Saudi Arabian clubs.

In summary, Chelsea is actively pursuing Caicedo while successfully offloading players which has bolstered their finances for further transfer activity.

The funds generated from the potential sale of Havertz will be allocated toward a bid for the Brighton midfielder. Chelsea’s manager, Pochettino, views the Ecuadorian international as the key player to anchor the midfield at Stamford Bridge.

With the departures of Kovacic and N’Golo Kante, there is now a significant void in central midfield for the club. There are even suggestions that Mason Mount could be on the verge of a move to Manchester United, pending a fee agreement.

Given these circumstances, it is logical for Chelsea to invest a substantial amount in acquiring a player like Caicedo.

At 21 years old, he is a highly talented individual who possesses versatility, capable of performing in multiple midfield positions. He has even demonstrated competence as a right-back in recent matches.

He possesses a deep understanding of the game and can adeptly fulfill the role of a holding midfielder or contribute to the attack when needed.

With his exceptional work rate and precise ball control, he would form a promising partnership with Enzo Fernandez in central midfield.

While Fernandez excels as a passer and enjoys orchestrating play, Caicedo’s strength lies in his ability to provide the necessary running and dominate matches.

If Chelsea successfully secure the signing of Caicedo, they would effectively address their central midfield requirements for the foreseeable future.
