According to ESPN, Manchester City has reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign midfielder Mateo Kovacic for £30 million ($38 million).
The deal involves an initial payment of £25 million, with an additional £5 million possible in add-ons. The 29-year-old Croatian star who has won multiple trophies, is set to join the treble-winning team
Kovacic, who initially joined Chelsea on loan from Real Madrid in 2018, is now in the last year of his contract with the club.
Man City are poised to secure his services, making him their first signing of the summer transfer window. The addition of Kovacic will provide manager Pep Guardiola with increased midfield choices, particularly as captain Ilkay Gundogan has agreed to join Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Kovacic, who has achieved three Champions League triumphs with Real Madrid and one with Chelsea, is expected to be one of several players leaving the Blues as new manager Mauricio Pochettino aims to trim the already bloated squad.
Chelsea recently said goodbye to French midfielder N’Golo Kante, who will be joining Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad. They have started their mass exodus by letting Kalidou Koulibaly, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy join Saudi clubs in the upcoming days.
Kovacic is expected to undergo a medical examination prior to Man City’s preseason tour of Japan and South Korea, which kicks off at the end of July.
