With the Chelsea supporters back in attendance for the first time in 17 months at the Bridge, Thomas Tuchel’s men put up a convincing display right from the start.

Chrisitan Pulisic had a chance to get on the scoresheet early on but his header flew over the bar as the hosts remained on the hunt for an early opening goal.

The opener came through Marcos Alonso who stepped up to take the free-kick after Mason Mount had been fouled and the Spanish full-back’s effort ended up in the top corner to give Chelsea a well-earned lead.

Chelsea’s advantage was doubled just before the half-time break with Pulisic grabbing this opportunity to slot the ball into the back of the net after an initial save from Palace goalkeeper Guaita.

Timo Werner could have added to Chelsea’s lead once again in the minutes that followed Pulisic’s strike but the under-fire German forward could only hit the side netting with his effort on goal.

Palace No.1 Guaita was called into action early on in the second half to defy the Chelsea man Alonso from doubling his tally for the day.

It came down to debutant Chalobah for making it 3-0 for Chelsea and putting the match to bed and the in-form defender ensured a fantastic goal for the Chelsea fans to savour with a well-placed strike into the back of the Palace goal.

Chelsea’s defensive line had their work cut out in what was the remainder of the game but Edouard Mendy was up to it to keep his clean sheet and deny the visitors from pulling one back.

The final whistle ensured the three points for Thomas Tuchel’s men who are backed to be serious contenders for Premier League glory this season.
