Bayern Munich are reportedly set to offer new terms to Chelsea target Niklas Sule in a setback to the plans for the Stamford Bridge giants.
The Germany international central defender had been a top name on the shopping list for the Blues boss Thomas Tuchel who was keen on adding to his options in the heart of the backline come next summer.
Reports from BILD, however, suggest that Bayern Munich are in line to renew Sule’s contract which was due to expire at the end of the season and had convinced Chelsea to keep close tabs on his situation.
Bayern’s attempts to tie down Sule to a new long-term deal beyond the summer of 2022 will mean Chelsea moving on to other alternatives in the transfer market as Thomas Tuchel looks to bring in fresh blood for his defensive roster.
The uncertainty that surrounds the future of Tuchel’s first-choice centre-back pairing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen heading into the January transfer window has already been a cause of concern for the Chelsea manager.
